Last season, Dhoni had assumed a lower-middle-order role to manage his workload owing to a lingering knee injury. Despite playing through pain, he steered CSK to a remarkable fifth title before undergoing surgery to address his ailment. Fans are now hopeful that Dhoni will ascend the batting order, allowing them to relish his batting prowess for an extended duration.

Following a rigorous rehabilitation regimen post-surgery at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, Dhoni diligently focused on enhancing his fitness levels in preparation for the high-octane IPL tournament. CSK, commencing their title defense against Royal Challengers Bangalore, embarked on their preparatory camp on March 2, initially welcoming players such as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Mukesh Choudhary, and Prashant Solanki before being joined by the rest of the squad.

However, CSK encountered a setback with New Zealand opener Devon Conway slated to miss a significant portion of the tournament due to thumb surgery, stemming from an injury sustained during New Zealand’s T20 clash against Australia. Despite this setback, the Chennai-based franchise remains poised to commence their campaign with unwavering determination and a commitment to uphold their legacy in the IPL.
