With years of playing for India together, Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma naturally have a strong camaraderie. Known for their humor, they often engage in enjoyable conversations both on and off the field.

Sourav Ganguly’s stance on Rishabh Pant’s fitness for the T20 World Cup

Sourav Ganguly, Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket, suggests postponing discussions about Rishabh Pant’s role in the June T20 World Cup, indicating a cautious approach to assess Pant’s form and fitness before making any decisions.

Despite Pant’s impressive performance with a couple of half-centuries, debates have arisen regarding his role as India’s wicketkeeper for the prestigious event. However, while Pant has been declared fully fit, Ganguly believes that he requires more game time before entering the conversation.

Here’s what Ganguly informed the press:

“Rishabh is fully fit. His form has been fantastic. He is keeping and batting well but let him play a few matches more. If the national selectors want him, I should be able to judge in another week.”

Pant has amassed 152 runs at a commendable strike rate of 158.33 in IPL 2024. Alongside players such as Jitesh Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson, the competition for India’s primary wicketkeeper spot in the T20 World Cup could intensify until the last moment.
