IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant Comments On Incorrect DRS Calls In DC vs KKR Match

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant attributed his inability to make correct DRS calls during the IPL 2024 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Vizag to venue noise. He also noted an issue with the screen.

In the fourth over bowled by Ishant Sharma, when Sunil Narine swung across the line, there appeared to be an edge. However, despite Mitchell Marsh strongly suggesting a review, Pant did not opt for it in time.

Another opportunity arose in the 15th over when Shreyas Iyer nicked one, but once again, the 26-year-old did not request a review. During the post-match presentation, Pant expanded on the issue:

“It was quite loud (the venue) and couldn’t see the timer on the screen (talking about the non-DRS moments) and there was some issue with the screen as well, there are some things you can control and some you cannot control, you just need to go with the flow.”

Narine, opening the innings, inflicted significant damage with seven fours and an equal number of sixes in his 39-ball 85. Teaming up with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who contributed 54, they accumulated 104 runs off 48 deliveries, helping Kolkata reach 272-7 in 20 overs.

“We were just all over the place” -Rishabh Pant commented on the bowling performance of Delhi Capitals

Pant mentioned that Delhi Capitals aimed to reduce the daunting target and believed it was preferable to be bowled out in the attempt.

“We were just all over the place (with the ball), we could have done better, and it is one of those days I feel. As a batting unit, we talked about going hard (after the target) and that’s how we approach these games because it is better to be all-out trying to go for the total than not chase it down.”

The young player led the charge with 55 runs from 25 balls and hammered Venkatesh Iyer for 28 runs in a single over. Nonetheless, the Capitals were dismissed for 166, allowing the Knight Riders to secure their third consecutive victory with ease.
