Glenn Maxwell, representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), struggled to boost their innings against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday, April 6, as he was dismissed by pace bowler Nandre Burger for only 1 run from 3 balls.
With the opening partnership of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis contributing 125 runs in 14 overs, RCB required an acceleration. Maxwell was elevated to No. 3 with only six overs remaining, and the dynamic batsman aimed to display intent from the outset.
However, a delivery from Nandre Burger, delivered from around the wicket, was too close and too full for Glenn Maxwell to attempt a wild swing across the line. He was dismissed with precision and accuracy and was unable to connect with the ball.

In five matches this season, Maxwell has accumulated only 32 runs at a disappointing strike rate of 106.67. His lacklustre form has become a significant concern for RCB, given his pivotal role as their mainstay in the previous seasons.
Virat Kohli’s century sparked significant discussion during RCB’s innings
Experienced batsman Virat Kohli contributed 113 runs from 72 balls. He guided his team to a total of 183/3 in their allotted 20 overs. With minimal input from other batsmen, the former captain once again dominated the scoring.
Although Kohli received praise for his performance, there were mixed reactions regarding his innings’ construction. Some argued that Kohli could have scored more runs and potentially led Bengaluru to surpass the 200-run mark.
Only time will reveal if dew becomes a factor and aids RR’s chase. The hosts faced a dire beginning as they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal without scoring in the opening over. The Royals require captain Sanju Samson and Buttler to stabilize the innings and set a foundation for their victory.
