KKR IPL 2025 Full Player List: Kolkata Knight Riders Updated Squad With Complete Details

The IPL 2025 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens ended in disappointment as heavy rains forced the match to be called off. After electing to bat first, PBKS got off to a flying start with a stellar 120-run partnership between Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. Priyansh scored an aggressive 69 off 35 balls, while Prabhsimran contributed a solid 83 off 49 balls, helping PBKS post a formidable total of 201/4 in their 20 overs.

In response, KKR managed to score only seven runs in the single over they played before a thunderstorm and persistent showers halted proceedings. Though there was a brief break in the rain, it returned quickly, leaving the officials with no option but to abandon the game. Consequently, both teams shared a point each.

KKR’s Qualification Path for IPL 2025 Playoffs

Following the washout, KKR now sit at 7 points from 9 matches, making their path to the playoffs a bit challenging. To secure a spot without relying on other teams, KKR must win all of their remaining five fixtures, which would push their points tally to 17.

However, even if they win four out of their last five matches, they still stand a chance to qualify. In that scenario, their progression will heavily depend on their Net Run Rate (NRR) and the outcomes of other games. This leaves KKR in a must-win situation where not only victories but convincing performances will be crucial to improve their NRR and boost their playoff hopes.

Highlights of the Abandoned Match

Before rain intervened, PBKS showcased dominant batting. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh exploited the conditions well, with Priyansh continuing his good form after his earlier fast IPL century this season. KKR’s bowlers struggled initially but managed to pull things back slightly in the later overs.

Vaibhav Arora was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 wickets for 34 runs, while Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell chipped in with one wicket each. Despite setting the stage for an exciting chase under lights, the thunderstorm and heavy rain dashed all hopes of a full contest, leaving fans and players alike disappointed on what could have been a thrilling “Super Saturday.”
