IPL 2025: Karun Nair’s Frustration Goes Viral After Mix-Up With Porel During The DC vs RR Match

In the IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, Karun Nair faced a frustrating moment when he was dismissed for a three-ball duck. The incident took place in the fourth over of DC’s innings. A miscommunication with fellow batter Abishek Porel led to a run-out. Porel played a delivery from Sandeep Sharma towards point and initially called for a run but quickly changed his mind.

However, Karun had already committed and was halfway down the pitch. Before he could return to the crease, the throw came in and Sandeep completed the run-out. This was particularly disappointing for Karun, who had scored a strong 89 runs in the previous game. His anger was clearly visible as he returned to the dressing room, where his reaction quickly went viral on social media.

Match Background and Team Strategies

Both Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals entered the match without making any changes to their playing XIs. The game was held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, with Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

His decision was based on the pitch conditions, which he believed would improve for batting in the second half of the match. Despite past matches in New Delhi showing better results for teams batting first, Sanju Samson emphasized the importance of adapting to the situation. He noted that the tournament was still in the early stages and that the team was focused on delivering a strong performance regardless of previous results.

Delhi Capitals’ Hopes for a Comeback

DC came into this match hoping to bounce back after a narrow 12-run loss to Mumbai Indians in their previous outing, which ended their winning streak. Captain Axar Patel mentioned that they too would have preferred to bowl first due to the dew factor but were ready to set a big target with the bat.

He acknowledged the mistakes made in the previous game, especially a middle-order collapse, and shared that the team had discussed ways to avoid such errors. A win in this match was crucial for DC as it would help them move back to the top of the points table. The pitch report by Shane Watson suggested some grip for both spinners and pace bowlers using variation. The boundary sizes were 61m and 62m on the square, with a 72m straight boundary from the Willingdon end.
