Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has finally succeeded in breaking the jinx at the Wankhede Stadium; they defeated the Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a nail-biting contest. Chasing a target of 222 from the 20 overs, Mumbai managed 209/9 in their scorecard, despite good effort from the batters.
It has been a very close match – both the excellent teams in the contest have provided some great action. But eventually, it was the ingenious bowling combined with clever tactics for RCB that got them the very much-needed victory in the IPL 2025 event. It has turned out to be an amazing redemption for a previously faltering RCB, which has struggled to find its footing in the tournament. This victory sends a message to the competition that RCB is pretty well pumped up to hit back hard and make some serious runs in the tournament.
Krunal Pandya’s Masterclass Steers RCB to Victory
Krunal Pandya was unarguably the hero for RCB when he managed to pull through four timely dismissals in the last over of the match, giving his side the well-deserved win. With Mumbai requiring 15 runs in the last over, a brilliant bowling display from Krunal Pandya gave them their victory by 12 runs when he dismissed Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, and Naman Dhir. With his accurate bowling and clever mind games, Krunal perfectly steered RCB to a victory that came after so long at Wankhede since 2015.
Virat Kohli’s Form Continues
Virat Kohli remained on song and achieved a telling half-century to solidify the RCB’s mammoth total. Kohli’s innings bore the stamp of aggression and accuracy for which he is known. The onslaught was against the bowlers of Mumbai as he joined hands with Rajat Patidar to take RCB to a fighting total, which ultimately proved to be a winning one on this occasion.
Hardik Pandya’s Cameo Falls Short
Hardik Pandya played one important cameo for Mumbai, scoring 42 off 15 balls. His batting laid out the aggression that kept Mumbai alive in the match even after they lost some crucial wickets. Today, with his dismissal in the penultimate over, he dented his side’s hopes and they were not able to chase down the target, while he himself, being the only T20I captain to have never lost to any team on this occasion, must be having heavy thoughts as to what went wrong. The team ultimately triumphs; thus ended the contest on a happy note for RCB.
