Mumbai Indians was given a massive boost just before their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2025. By this Friday, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was set to come on board after missing the first four games due to back injury. This time, he joined the camp late on the eve of the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which will go down at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, April 7th.
The fast bowling ace has been given the green light to take on RCB, and that would boost his struggling team currently at the bottom half of the table. The Hardik Pandya-skippered side has managed to win just one of their four outings in the league so far. Bumrah’s return will prove an invaluable boost for the team in morale and performance.

Soon after getting into the camp, Jasprit Bumrah was spotted engaging in the team huddle as preparation for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru began. The fast bowler cherished the welcome by mentor Kieron Pollard with these words: “Welcome, Mufasa,” lifting Bumrah off his feet. Everyone in the Mumbai Indians shared the round of applause that celebrated Bumrah’s return.
The franchise uploaded a video of Bumrah’s welcome on their social media account, captioned, “While we sing “Naaaaaaant’s Ingonyama Bagithi Baba!” in the background.” This shows how eager the team is to see Bumrah back on the field and perhaps a glimpse of the delight with which he is received.
His return will be a momentous occasion after three months away from the game, and experience and skill will be put to use well within the Mumbai Indians team. He picked up injury during the last game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which was played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. He has been on rest since then and missed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While he was expected to recover well before the IPL started, Bumrah took a little more time than expected. However, his return will provide an incentive and a boost to the side’s chances.
