IPL 2025: Preity Zinta Takes Punjab Kings’ Co-Owners To Court As Legal Proceedings Commence

Preity Zinta, co-owner of Punjab Kings (PBKS), has reportedly taken legal action against fellow co-owners Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman by filing a case in a Chandigarh court, according to Times of India. The case contests the legality of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 21 and the procedures followed during it.

Zinta has raised concerns about the appointment of a new director at KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company that owns the PBKS franchise. She alleges that the meeting violated the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.

Reports also indicate that Zinta had objected to the meeting in advance, on April 10, but her concerns were ignored. Although she attended the meeting along with director Karan Paul, both opposed the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as director, but their objections were overruled.

Through her legal petition, Zinta has requested the court to nullify the meeting and block Khanna’s appointment, along with any other decisions made during the session.

Preity Zinta’s Punjab Kings Maintain Strong Form in IPL 2025

Despite Preity Zinta’s consistent support over the years, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have often underperformed in the IPL. However, the 2025 season has marked a turning point with Shreyas Iyer as captain and Ricky Ponting as coach, as the team has delivered a strong performance throughout the tournament.

For the first time in a decade, PBKS have secured a spot in the playoffs — their last appearance was in 2014. This also marks only the third time in 18 seasons that they’ve reached this stage. With 17 points from 12 matches (including one No-Result) and eight wins, PBKS currently sit third on the points table.

They remain in the race for a top-two finish and will need victories in their final two league matches against the Delhi Capitals on May 24 and Mumbai Indians on May 26. The franchise is still chasing its first IPL title, with a runners-up finish in 2014 being its best performance to date.
