Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has pledged ₹10 lakh in compensation to each of the 11 families who lost loved ones in the tragic stampede at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, June 4. Additionally, the franchise announced the creation of a relief initiative titled ‘RCB Cares’.

The stampede occurred as thousands of fans gathered at RCB‘s home ground to celebrate the team’s first-ever IPL title win. Confirming the deaths of 11 individuals, RCB issued an official statement on Thursday, emphasizing that their fans “remain at the heart of everything we do.”

“The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased.”

“In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident. Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief,” RCB said in a statement on Thursday, June 5.

Virat Kohli Breaks Silence On Bengaluru Stampede Incident

Former RCB skipper and star batter Virat Kohli expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, stating he was “absolutely gutted” by the incident. The tragedy followed RCB’s historic triumph in the IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, June 3, in Ahmedabad.

The six-run victory marked the end of Kohli’s long-standing quest for the IPL title, as the team secured their maiden championship after 18 seasons. This win came in RCB’s fourth appearance in an IPL final, having previously finished as runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016.

Virat Kohli was exceptional in IPL 2025, scoring 657 runs in 15 matches with an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71. He hit eight fifties, with a top score of 73, playing a key role in RCB’s maiden title win.
