IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant Comes Under Fire After Another Disappointing Performance For Lucknow Super Giants

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, faced severe trolling on social media after another underwhelming performance in the ongoing IPL 2025. In the match against Mumbai Indians, Pant could only manage 4 runs off 2 balls before being dismissed by Will Jacks. Heading into the match, he had accumulated just 106 runs from 9 games, prompting harsh criticism from fans and experts alike.

Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history when Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured him for Rs 27 crore at the auction, but he has struggled to justify that hefty price tag. After yet another poor showing, social media erupted with criticism, mocking both his lack of runs and the massive price tag associated with him.

In one of the tweets, Rishabh Pant was seen getting scolded by Sanjiv Goenka after their loss to Mumbai Indians. You can view the tweet here:

“Blaming One Player Isn’t Right”- Rishabh Pant Addresses IPL 2025 Struggles:

Rishabh Pant, purchased by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore, has struggled with the bat in IPL 2025. His poor form continued against Mumbai Indians, where Lucknow lost by 54 runs. Pant attempted a reverse sweep but ended up getting caught for just four runs. After the match, Pant addressed his form, stating that blaming one player isn’t fair, as cricket is a team game.

In the 10 matches played during IPL 2025, Rishabh Pant has managed only 110 runs, with an average of 12.22 and a strike rate of 98.21. His scores so far are 0, 15, 2, 2, 21, 63, 3, 0, and 4.

“Keeping it simple and not thinking about it too much. In a season like this, where things are not going your way, you’re going to start questioning yourself as a player – that’s not something you want to do. When the team is doing well, you’ve got to think about that,” Pant told the host broadcaster.

“Eventually, it’s a team game. Yes, one player makes the difference, but every time if you take out the individual, it’s not the right thing to do, I guess,” he added.
