Rajasthan Royals’ young star Vaibhav Suryavanshi faced disappointment in the IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians. After creating history in the previous game by becoming the youngest player to score a century in the IPL, there were high expectations from him.
However, in this match, Vaibhav was dismissed for a 2-ball duck and couldn’t make an impact. His team, Rajasthan Royals, also suffered a massive defeat by 100 runs, which ended their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. The match proved to be a tough one for the teenager, who had been in great form and was under the spotlight due to his recent performances.
Rohit Sharma’s Heartwarming Support
Despite the tough loss for Rajasthan Royals, what caught the attention of fans was a moment after the match. As both teams exchanged handshakes, Mumbai Indians’ senior player Rohit Sharma walked up to the visibly upset Vaibhav and shared a few comforting words. The gesture was praised widely on social media, where fans appreciated Rohit’s thoughtful action.
“He will learn. Encouraging words from Rohit Sharma there, as well,” said commentator Ravi Shastri, acknowledging the support shown by the Indian captain. The video of Rohit talking to Vaibhav quickly went viral, with many calling it a sign of great sportsmanship. Rohit Sharma encouraging Vaibhav Suryavanshi – A lovely gesture by the Indian Captain.

Ryan Rickelton and Mumbai’s Victory
While Vaibhav had a difficult day, Mumbai Indians celebrated a dominant win, and Ryan Rickelton was named the Player of the Match. He played a crucial role with a 38-ball 63-run knock that gave MI a strong start.
Rickelton said, “The family is there, they have come up this week, and it is special to put in a performance in front of them. Always happy to contribute to the Mumbai Indians. Such a good group and we are finding the momentum at the right time.”
He also shared his thoughts on batting with Rohit, saying, “Was a bit of a slow start getting into the tournament for both of us, we are clicking and it is incredible to be out there with him. We were a bit unsure with the weather looming around in the first two-three overs but we dovetailed nicely. Awesome to get out and lay the foundation and then watch Hardik and SKY play the way they did.”
