IPL 2025: [WATCH]- Ayush Mhatre’s Brilliant Catch Dismisses Rinku Singh In KKR vs CSK Match

Ayush Mhatre of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) showcased remarkable awareness during their IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, May 7. The 17-year-old pulled off a sensational boundary catch to dismiss Rinku Singh, who scored 9 runs off 6 balls.

The breakthrough came in the 19th over of KKR’s innings when Noor Ahmad bowled a short ball on leg stump. Rinku Singh attempted a pull shot toward deep backward square, managing the distance but not the height to clear Mhatre.

Displaying excellent control and judgment, Ayush Mhatre held on to the catch on his second attempt while skillfully avoiding contact with the boundary. The TV umpire reviewed the replay before confirming the dismissal. You can watch the video here:

With that dismissal, Noor Ahmad completed his four-wicket haul, ending with impressive figures of 4 for 31 in his four-over spell.

KKR posted a target of 180 runs for CSK in the IPL 2025 match

Ajinkya Rahane led a strong batting effort as KKR posted 179/6 against CSK in their IPL 2025 encounter. Rahane was the top scorer with a fluent 48 off 33 balls, striking at 145.45 with two sixes and four fours. Contributions also came from Andre Russell, who hit 38 off 21 balls, and Sunil Narine, who added 26 off 17.

Manish Pandey remained unbeaten, finishing with 36 off 28 balls, which included a six and a four. On the bowling front for CSK, Ravindra Jadeja and Anshul Kamboj picked up a wicket each, while Noor Ahmad stood out with a stellar performance.

KKR, the defending champions, must win their remaining three matches to stay in contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs. They currently have 11 points from 11 games, including one rain-affected clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

On the other hand, CSK are officially out of playoff contention, sitting at the bottom of the table with just four points from 11 matches. CSK narrowly lost to RCB by two runs while chasing 214 and now aim to end their four-match losing streak to avoid a bottom-place finish.
