Ireland Announces Squad For Its Historic Test Against England

Ireland became the 11th nation to play Test cricket. They made their debut against Pakistan on 11th-15th May at Dublin. Despite the 1st day washed out and only 22 overs possible on day 2, the match between Ireland and Pakistan yielded in a result. It was a great effort by the Ireland team who stretched Pakistan to the limit and lost the match by 5 wickets.

The Irish Cricket team played Afghanistan in their 2nd Test match at Dehradun from 15th March 2019. Afghanistan won the match by 7 wickets to register their maiden Test win. Ireland has played 2 Tests and is yet to find their maiden victory in the whites.

Ireland will take on England in a historic 4-day Test match to be played at Lords, London from 24th July onwards. 

The 14-man Ireland squad for the historic 4-day Test match against England has been announced. The experienced William Porterfield will lead Ireland. This will be their 12th international match between Ireland and England. In the previous ODI match played between these two countries, England survived a scare before winning the match by 4 wickets.

Mark Adair, Gary Wilson, Craig Young have been included in the team. James-Cameron Dow, George Dockrell, Barry McCarthy and Stuart Poytner are being dropped from the team. Ireland whitewashed Zimbabwe by 3-0 in the recently concluded ODI series.
