“It Feels The Same For Everyone”- Gambhir On Dressing Room Atmosphere During Kohli’s Run Chase

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir shared insights on the dressing room atmosphere following India’s four-wicket victory over Australia in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy semi-final on Tuesday in Dubai. Chasing 265, Virat Kohli came in at his usual No. 3 spot after Shubman Gill’s early dismissal for eight.

The 36-year-old anchored the innings until the 43rd over, scoring 84 off 94 balls before being caught in the deep. When asked about the dressing room atmosphere during Virat Kohli‘s innings, Gautam Gambhir said it remained the same as when anyone else was batting. He said:

“It feels exactly the same whoever it is, It’s not different. I think everyone is important. It feels exactly the same, whether it’s Virat in the middle, or it’s anyone else in the middle. Ultimately, it’s about playing for the country. It’s about when you’re representing your country, every individual is important.”

India secured their place in the ICC Champions Trophy final for the fifth time in history

India advanced to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy final with a four-wicket win over Australia in the semi-finals, marking their fifth appearance in the tournament’s title clash. They previously reached the final in 2000, 2002, 2013, and 2017, winning the trophy in 2002 and 2013.

The final will take place in Dubai, as India is not traveling to Pakistan for any of their scheduled matches. A victory would secure their third Champions Trophy title, making them the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

The final, set for Sunday, March 9, at the same venue, will feature India against the winner of the second semifinal between New Zealand and South Africa, which takes place on March 5 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

New Zealand heads into the semifinal with confidence, having secured positive results in Lahore, including a recent tri-series win over South Africa. Coach Gary Stead credits their optimism to their experience with the conditions and previous successes at the venue.
