Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli appeared frustrated and verbally lashed out at Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who was sloppy with his fielding. The incident took place during India’s 2025 Champions Trophy semifinal against Australia on Tuesday, March 4.
It occurred after the fifth delivery of the 32nd over when Steve Smith flicked the ball to deep mid-wicket, and Kohli collected it to throw it back to the bowler’s end. Instead of stopping the ball, Kuldeep let it pass, and Rohit, fielding at covers, was forced to retrieve it.
Virat Kohli, visibly angry, scolded the spinner in Hindi, while the entire incident was captured on camera. Rohit Sharma, after collecting the ball, was seen shouting in frustration.
“Ball pakad nahi sakta kya? (You can’t catch the ball?)”

Kuldeep Yadav is still looking for his first wicket in the match
The semi-final began with Mohammed Shami removing Cooper Connolly early in the third over of the innings. As Travis Head and Steve Smith tried to build a partnership, Rohit Sharma brought in Varun Chakaravarthy in the ninth over, and the mystery spinner dismissed the Australian opener with his second delivery.
Smith then formed a strong 56-run partnership with Marnus Labuschagne before the latter was dismissed off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling. Jadeja followed up by removing Josh Inglis shortly after, giving his team two vital breakthroughs.
Despite Kuldeep Yadav‘s efforts, he couldn’t take a wicket, as Jadeja, Shami, and Chakaravarthy claimed the first five wickets. Shami picked up his second wicket by dismissing the in-form Steven Smith in the 37th over, breaking the 54-run partnership between Smith and Alex Carey.
The sixth-wicket stand was short-lived as India’s fourth spinner, Axar Patel, sent Glenn Maxwell back for a low score.
