“It Is A Very Big Opportunity, A Dream Come True” – Rahul Tripathi On His Maiden India Call Up For The Ireland Tour

Talented young batter Rahul Tripathi expressed that his maiden India call-up is a result of the hard work that he has put in over the years. He was named in the 17-member Indian squad for the Ireland tour.

Rahul Tripathi has been a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League over the last few years. In fourteen matches this year, he scored 413 runs at an average of 37.55 and a strike rate of 158.23. His run tally includes three fifties this season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The 31-year-old on Wednesday expressed that the India call-up is a dream come true for him. He added that it is the reward for the hard work that he has put in for the game. Speaking to the PTI, Rahul Tripathi said:

“It is a very big opportunity, a dream come true (moment), and (I) appreciate (it). I am very happy that the selectors and everybody believed in me and whatever hard work I have put in.”

“I have got the rewards. And hopefully, if I get an opportunity to play, I will try and give my best,” he added.

Rahul Tripathi has a good T20 record, scoring 2628 runs at an average of 27.09 at a strike rate of 134.01. He has also led Maharashtra in domestic cricket. With the ICC T20 World Cup around the corner, Tripathi will be keen to make an impact, if he gets an opportunity in the series.

Hardik Pandya to lead India against Ireland

All-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the 17-member Indian squad for the T20I series against Ireland. Meanwhile, veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be his deputy in the two T20Is.

Suryakumar Yadav, who was out of action for a while due to injury has made a comeback to the Indian team. The T20I series will begin on June 26 followed by the second T20I on June 28.

Former India cricketer VVS Laxman will be the Head Coach for the tour.  The other coaches are Shitanshu Kotak (batting coach), Sairaj Bahutule (bowling coach), and Munish Bali (fielding coach).
