Mumbai Indians is the most successful IPL franchise in the history of the tournament. The team led by Rohit Sharma has won four IPL titles in the last seven years. The most recent win came in 2019 when Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final of a last-ball thriller.

After winning the title in 2019, Mumbai Indians became the only team to have four IPL trophies, and the most successful team ever. Chennai Super Kings occupies the second spot with three titles to their name.

Bumrah is a beast on the field – Jayawardene

The Mumbai based franchise has won the tournament in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, all being odd years. The team didn’t have the greatest start as they failed to qualify for the playoffs in the first two seasons of IPL.

The Mumbai head coach Mahela Jayawardene, who was recently speaking on Sony Ten Pit Stop said his job is mostly to manage the players. With quality players in the ranks, the job of the coach turns to be man-management.

“My job is mostly to manage the different players in the dressing rooms in order to get the best out of them.

All these guys have different characteristics. You need to allow them to express themselves, You need to create an environment where these characters come together and perform. It’s more management. You need to be a manager for these players,” Jayawardene said.

He further went on to talk about the player’s behaviour on and off the field. Mahela Jayawardene believes Jasprit Bumrah is a beast when he goes out to the field. The former Sri Lanka skipper remains blessed to be a part of this side.

“Bums (Jasprit Bumrah) is quiet but when he goes out in the middle there is a different beast. Hardik (Pandya) can be a bit loud off the field and he can be loud on the field. I enjoy that. That dressing room, we got some amazing guys. So talented. It’s been a pleasure managing those guys and being part of the franchise.”

The Sri Lankan legend joined the Mumbai based franchise in 2017 and has since won 2 titles.
