Jasprit Bumrah becomes number 1 ranked Test bowler

Jasprit Bumrah achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian pacer to claim the number-one spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings after an outstanding performance against England in Visakhapatnam. He surpassed his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to claim the coveted position.

Bumrah’s ascent to the top spot was met with widespread congratulatory messages from the cricketing community. However, he shared a cryptic Instagram story depicting the contrast between the support he received during tough times and the celebration of his success.

Bumrah’s journey to the top spot was not without challenges. He made a comeback to the Indian team in August 2023 after an 11-month hiatus due to a stress fracture, missing major tournaments like the T20 World Cup 2022, Asia Cup 2022, and the World Test Championship final in 2023. Throughout his absence, he faced criticism and trolling on social media, questioning his dedication to the game. Nevertheless, since his return, Bumrah has silenced his critics with stellar performances across all formats.
