Jhye Richardson Ruled Out Of 2023 Indian Premier League

Australian bowler Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the 2023 Indian Premier League season, which begins on March 31. He is also doubtful that the 2023 Ashes series. The pacer underwent surgery to address the recurring hamstring issues. Earlier, Richardson was ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against India.

Jhye Richardson took to Twitter to share a picture of himself from the hospital. He expressed that it is frustrating to have recurring injury issues. However, the Aussie added that he will work and had to get back on the field. Jhye Richardson wrote on Twitter,

“Injuries are a big part of cricket, that’s a fact. Frustrating? Absolutely. But I’m now in a scenario where I can get back to doing what I love and work bloody hard to become an even better player than before. One step back, two steps forward. Let’s do this.”

Jhye Richardson was signed by the Mumbai Indians for his base price of 1.50 crores at the 2023 IPL auctions. However, the franchise will miss his services for the upcoming season. The Rohit Sharma-led team will also be without their lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who also underwent surgery this week in New Zealand.

Western Australia coach Adam Voges opens up on Jhye Richardson’s recurring injury issue

Earlier this year, Jhye Richardson injured his hamstring during the Big Bash League. He was ruled out of the tournament. Later when he attempted to return to action, the bowler suffered a recurrence of the injury. Western Australia coach Adam Voges expressed that Richardson’s recovery will take time. He is hopeful that the pacer’s surgery will solve the issue of recurring injuries. He said as quoted by Espncricfo,

“Obviously, it’s devastating that he has re-injured that hamstring again and he is going to miss a significant amount of time to get his hamstring right. We all feel for Jhye and we’re hopeful that whatever they come with as a solution can fix his hamstring and we get him back out there because it has been a tough 12 months for him.”
