England pacer Jofra Archer is not having a good time off-late. After being ruled out of the ODIs against India with an elbow injury, he underwent an operation due to a freakish accident. Meanwhile, the elbow injury is set to keep him away from the initial phase of the IPL 2021 starting from April 9. The 25-year-old featured in two of England’s four tests and all five T20 matches during their series in India.

England’s director of cricket Ashley Giles confirmed his unfortunate injury and also updated that he underwent an operation for the same. The surgery was to remove a glass piece from a tendon on his right hand on Monday.

He’s got a fish tank, dropped the fish tank and cut his hand. This is going to sound like an awful conspiracy and I know what’s going to happen on Twitter straight away when I say this. But it’s true, it’s not a conspiracy, it was a fish tank. He was cleaning at home” Giles told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Jofra Archer is facing injury problems with his elbow since the last two years now. The issue has cropped up once again which is set to keep him away from the start of IPL 2021 for Rajasthan Royals. England skipper Eoin Morgan touched down on Archer’s IPL 2021 availability in the pre-match press conference ahead of the first ODI. Archer’s absence for his IPL franchise will come as a big blow with the franchise not having renowned bowlers.

“To be honest, I cannot give a medical opinion. We know the situation with his elbow, it has progressively gotten worse. We know that it needs investigation, only time will tell. He has given his heart and soul to us since he has been involved so we will give him full attention in order to try and bring the best result possible” said Morgan.

Meanwhile, the Royals will kick off their IPL 2021 campaign against Punjab Kings in Mumbai on April 12. Royals will play five games in Mumbai, four games in Delhi, three in Kolkata and two in Banglore.
