IPL 2021: Full Schedule Of Punjab Kings

The IPL governing council announced the schedule of the VIVO IPL 2021 which is all set to commence on 9th April 2021 in Chennai with the playoffs all set to take place in the newly built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The high octane league will take place in 6 different venues with all 8 teams playing in 4 out of the 6 venues listed.

Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai & Kolkata will be hosting the cash-rich league in India after the previous edition was held in the United Arab Emirates across three venues namely Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. The Punjab Kings will be playing at Mumbai Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore throughout the IPL season as they begin their campaign on 12th April 2021 against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai.

Though BCCI hasn’t announced the venue at which the matches will take place, Mumbai having the options of three stadiums namely Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium is almost certain that the infamous Wankhede Stadium would be hosting all of the matches taking place in Mumbai.

Post the completion of the matches in Mumbai, Punjab Kings will travel to Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore for the remainder of the season. If in case they qualify for the playoffs, they would travel back from Bangalore to Ahmedabad for the end stages of the tournament.

The Punjab franchise was one of the major spenders in the IPL 2021 auction as they spent INR 34.40 crores purchasing 4 Indian players and 5 overseas players. Their most expensive buy was of Australian pacer Jhye Richardson who was bought for a whopping INR 14 crores making him one of the most expensive buys in the IPL 2021 auction.

Talking about Indian players, the Punjab Kings spent heavily on the services of Tamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan who was acquired for a hefty amount of INR 5.25 crores. Riley Meredith on the other hand was the most expensive overseas uncapped player bought in the IPL 2021 auction by Punjab as he was purchased for INR 8 crores.
