Ahead of the five-match T20I series between India and England which starts from March 12 (Friday) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, English wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler has picked the favourites to win the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in India later this year. The tournament will take place after a gap of five years after it was postponed last year due to coronavirus pandemic.

The upcoming T20I series between India and Australia will prove to be a dress rehearsal for both India and England ahead of the showpiece event. Virat Kohli & Co has picked a number of young cricketers as they look at all options available before picking the best possible 15. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Rahul Tewatia are some of the new faces who might get a chance to showcase their skills and present a case for selection in the ICC T20 World Cup.

“Going into World Cups, you probably look at hosts nations as strong as India who are gonna be favourites for that tournament. So it’s a great exposure for us to play against one of the best teams in the tournament in these conditions,” Jos Buttler said in a virtual press conference on Wednesday.

“There are many excellent teams, in the last few World Cups hosts nations have performed very well. India is of course strong in every format and T20 is no different and especially playing at home I see India as the favourites,” he added.
