Jos Buttler produced a marvellous century to power Rajasthan Royals to a big total against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in the ongoing IPL 2021. Buttler started slow but picked up the gears as the game progressed to register his first century in the cash-rich league. Banking on Buttler’s fine century, Rajasthan Royals posted 220 runs on the board which will be a big ask for Hyderabad.
Putting to bat first, Rajasthan didn’t get a good start losing Yashasvi Jaiswal early to Rashid Khan. The leg-spinner from Afghanistan was raining googlies making the life of the batters difficult. Jos Buttler and skipper Sanju Samson resorted to ones and twos before the English cricketer shifted gears.
Although Samson found it difficult to get his rhythm, Jos Buttler hammered the Hyderabad fast bowlers mainly Khaleel Ahmed and Vijay Shankar. He struck right, left, and center to mount on the runs as Rajasthan Royals look to bounce back in the competition. The pair added 150 runs for the second wicket – the highest ever by Rajasthan Royals to set the platform before Buttler went berserk against Hyderabad bowlers.
Buttler’s 124-run knock off just 64 deliveries included 11 boundaries and eight towering sixes and guided Rajasthan to over 200 runs. Incidentally, this is the highest score by a Rajasthan Royals batter in the history of IPL. Moreover, this is Buttler’s first hundred in the T20 format that came in his 282nd match.
Meanwhile, social media was on fire soon after Jos Buttler reached the landmark. From Lisa Sthalekar to New Zealand fast Mitchell McClenaghan showered praised on the opening batter for a brilliant knock.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Jos Buttler’s century
For someone of slender frame, Buttler hits the ball long distances. Enjoyed a life early, but this has been a marvellous century

Fantastic @josbuttler @rajasthanroyals has set it up. If bowlers bowl poorly changing captain won’t do anything for @SunRisers

Jos wasn’t timing the ball all that well for the first 40-45 runs….and still he went on to hit 124. 🙇♂️ One of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball. #JosTheBoss #RR #RRvSRH
