Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, just a while ago, made a statement regarding Jos Buttler’s futurity in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 final contest. Manjrekar has backed the Rajasthan Royals’ wicketkeeper-batter to ‘go big’ against Gujarat Titans (GT), tonight (May 29).

Buttler, unquestionably at his prime, has scored 824 runs in his 16 IPL innings, including four tons and four fifties, this year. The English wicketkeeper-batter has smashed runs at a massive strike rate of 151.47 and an average of 58.85. Buttler’s memorable run includes 45 sixes and 78 fours, so far. Buttler, currently, is the third-highest run-scorer (in a single edition) in the IPL’s history and needs 25 more runs to surpass David Warner, in the list of the elites.

Although, the 31-year-old seemed to be down in the middle of the tournament, but came back shortly, like never before. The Royals opener recently smashed his fourth hundred of the tournament, in the Qualifier 2, against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), guiding his side to the victory.

Besides, among all the praise, Indian veteran Manjrekar has forecasted that Jos Buttler will certainly deliver his best for Men in Pink, in the IPL 2022 final, tonight (May 29). Manjrekar also stated that Buttler will play a big knock against GT, at their home ground.

In a discussion with ESPNcricinfo, a cricket news firm, Manjrekar said, “I feel Jos Buttler will fire in the final as well. It has been an interesting season for him but he has shown his class. He was in brilliant form in the first seven games and then had a slump in the other half.

“But he bounced back and singlehandedly won RR the game against RCB. I am 100 percent sure that he will score big and GT will need to do something to stop him,” he added.

Hardik Pandya defeated RR to reach IPL 2022 final

Hardik Pandya-led GT introduced themselves in the finals after the Qualifier 1 thriller against RR. Royals, meanwhile, after losing the Qualifier 1, faced Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Qualifier 2 and recorded their second appearance in the finals since 2008, the year tournament commenced.

Moreover, the final will be played tonight (Sunday, May 29), at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The match will start at 8:00 PM IST, following the closing ceremony and toss.
