The Kings XI Punjab has announced the list of retained players ahead of the IPL 2021 mini-auction. KL Rahul will continue to lead the franchise after he impressed everyone with his leadership skills in the last season. The big name that the franchise has decided to release is Glenn Maxwell. The Australian had a dismal last IPL season and the franchise has finally decided to free him before the auction.
Talking about their retentions, the KXIP franchise has shown faith in Chris Gayle and retained him for the next IPL season. The 40-year-old is expected to play one more IPL season where he will be eyeing to lift that elusive IPL trophy. One more batsman from West Indies that KXIP has kept is the explosive Nicholas Pooran. The Southpaw has been in destructive for during BBL and was expected to be retained by the Kings XI Punjab.
The Indian players that are still part of KXIP are Mayank Agarwal, Prabhsimran Singh, Sarfaraz Khan and Mandeep Singh. The franchise lacked quality death bowlers in the previous season and were expected to make some major changes in their bowling attack. However, the franchise has just made minor changes and retained the likes of Chris Jordan, Ishan Porel and Arshdeep Singh.
