Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore has expressed his disappointment after Varun Chakravarthy lost his spot in the Indian team. The mystery spinner failed BCCI’s mandatory fitness Test twice and thus was ruled out of the white-ball leg. The BCCI has named a pretty young squad and ones who have performed in the IPL consistently well in the last couple of years. Suryakumar Yadav has finally earned his maiden India call-up after consistent performances in domestic cricket and the IPL. The BCCI has also included players like Ishan Kishan, Rahul Tewatia who also performed well for their respective franchises.
Venky Mysore, the CEO of KKR, seemed to be upset with the decision to drop the leggie from the national squad and opined that the “game would have lost many greats based on the current standards”.
“@bhogleharsha he has more skills than most we have seen, but may be a few seconds slower in a sprint…I wonder how many greats of yesteryears, cricket would have lost, based on the current “standards”!” he wrote on Twitter.
