Kraigg Brathwaite Reacts After Replacing Jason Holder As West Indies Test Skipper

Kraigg Brathwaite

Newly appointed West Indies Test skipper Kraigg Brathwaite said it’s a very proud moment for him to take over the Test captaincy from Jason Holder who was relieved from the burden of leadership allowing him to focus more on his batting and bowling.

The decision came through after West Indies under Kraigg Brathwaite’s leadership successfully managed to comprehensively sweep the Test series against Bangladesh despite the withdrawals of senior players including Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, Roston Chase, Sheldon Cottrell, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran.

Kieron Pollard previously replaced Jason Holder as the limited-overs skipper in 2019 followed by which in 2021, Kraigg Brathwaite has now replaced him as Test skipper relieving him of all the leadership duties for his national side.

He further added how he planned things under his captaincy during the Bangladesh tour, he said once the plan was in place for him, he had to back those and revolve his gameplay according to the set plan which eventually helped in succeed in the Asia country.

“The more you’re balanced, the better your shots, and that was something important for me,” he said. “I also went about planning even better, in terms of how I want to go about my innings, and topping up on power.
