Kuldeep Yadav, known for his deadly left-arm wrist spin, has just etched his name into the league’s history books by becoming the fourth-fastest spinner to achieve 100 IPL wickets, doing so in just 97 matches. The moment came in IPL 2025, during a crucial match against the mighty Mumbai Indians.

The Milestone Moment

Kuldeep Yadav has carved a unique path in Indian cricket with his left-arm wrist spin, breaking away from traditional spin styles. His journey from U-19 cricket to international success has been marked by growth and adaptability. While he made his IPL debut in 2012, it was during his stint with Kolkata Knight Riders that he truly established himself.

In a crucial IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians, Kuldeep reached a major milestone. In the seventh over, Ryan Rickelton attempted a slog sweep but misjudged the flight, sending the ball toward Madhav Tiwari at deep square leg. Tiwari moved swiftly and took a clean catch, securing Kuldeep’s 100th IPL wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav’s Journey in IPL

Kuldeep Yadav’s IPL journey has been remarkable, evolving from a benchwarmer to a match-winner. After a slow start, he gained recognition with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before thriving under Ricky Ponting’s mentorship at Delhi Capitals (DC). His consistent performances have made him a key player in the league.

Season after season, Kuldeep has maintained strong economy rates and a high wicket-taking ability, often turning matches in his team’s favor. He excels under pressure, particularly on dry or slow pitches, making him a valuable asset for any captain.

Delhi Capitals’ Playoff Race

Delhi Capitals face a must-win clash against Mumbai Indians to stay in contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs. A loss will eliminate them, securing Mumbai’s spot in the top four. However, a DC victory will keep the race open, with both teams set to play Punjab Kings in their final league match.

Stand-in captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl, leading the team in Axar Patel’s absence due to illness. At 40 years old, Faf became the fourth-oldest cricketer to captain an IPL side.

Delhi started strong, with their bowlers exploiting a slower pitch at Wankhede, which had been under covers for a long time. Mumbai batters struggled to find momentum, and DC will aim to maintain their grip on the game, restricting MI to a chaseable total.
