[WATCH]- MI Players Dance In Celebration After WPL 2025 Triumph

The Mumbai Indians women’s team couldn’t contain their excitement in the dressing room after securing their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title in three seasons on Saturday by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final.

In a video on Mumbai Indians’ social media, Amelia Kerr and coach Charlotte Edwards were seen dancing and celebrating. Despite qualifying again, the Mumbai-based team struggled at 14/2 in the fifth over after losing openers Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews.

However, captain Harmanpreet Kaur steadied the innings with an 89-run partnership alongside Nat Sciver-Brunt, who contributed 30 off 28 balls. Harmanpreet led the scoring with 66, helping the former champions reach 149/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians (MI) made a strong comeback with the ball, dismissing Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning within the first three overs. Jess Jonassen and Jemimah Rodrigues also failed to make a significant impact at the crease.

Marizanne Kapp, who earlier delivered an impressive spell of 4-0-11-2, was the top scorer with 40 runs but was dismissed in the 18th over, leaving the Capitals at 123/7. Niki Prasad remained unbeaten with 25 off 23 balls, but the Capitals ultimately fell short by eight runs, suffering their third consecutive WPL final defeat.

“It wasn’t an easy situation when I walked in” – Harmanpreet Kaur on her WPL final innings

During the post-game presentation, Harmanpreet highlighted her partnership with Nat as the key factor and emphasized that taking calculated risks helped them achieve a match-winning total. She said:

“It was a great team effort. I would like to congratulate Delhi team, it was not easy for us. At the end of the day, you feel happy, really happy with the way we played. We fought till the last ball, all about being there and doing the right things again and again.”

“It was not easy when I went in. But I had that belief that if I stayed there and kept rotating strike, and with Nat there, I did not need to take risks. Just wanted to support her. Partnership was amazing, wanted to keep things simple and easy. We took calculated risks and that helped us.”
