Chennai Super Kings became the first team to get knocked out of IPL 2020. However, they eliminated Kings XI Punjab in their last league game of the season. MS Dhoni said at the toss that he will be back for another year with the franchise.

He also spoke about the kind of squad, they are looking to set up for the next season. Meanwhile, former England skipper Michael Vaughan has said that MS Dhoni cannot retire from his IPL career, without playing in front of crowds at home in India.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Michael Vaughan said that if the IPL happens in the UAE, next year, MS Dhoni will have to play the IPL for another year so that he can play at Indian grounds and in front of his Indian fans.

“If the IPL takes place in the UAE next year again, which there are whispers it will happen, MS Dhoni will have to play another year. He cannot finish his IPL career in front of no crowd,” Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.

Michael Vaughan Wants MS Dhoni to Play in IPL 2022

He further said that if there any player who deserves a good farewell in the IPL, it has to be Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni. Michael Vaughan also admitted that he wants a big turn-up in the stadium for Dhoni’s last game.

“He has to play at least one game the following year. He cannot go out in front of no crowds. If there is one player who deserves a big crowd to say goodbye to – if he probably cannot play, he would just disappear and say goodbye without us knowing about it – like he did in international cricket. But I want to see a grand crowd for his last game,” Vaughan added.

Meanwhile, CSK had their worst IPL season in 2020. This is the first time they have failed to qualify for the playoffs in the league’s history. Apart from making continuous appearances in the playoffs for 12 seasons, CSK have won three titles by playing eight IPL finals.
