Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir left everyone in a state of shock when he announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 29. Since then Amir has been living in the United Kingdom. Amir while retiring put some serious allegations on Pakistan management. He said that they were the prime reason as to why he retired. He had later said that he will be available once the current management changes.

Meanwhile, he has been a part of multiple T20 franchise-based leagues in the last few months. In a recent chat with Pak Passion, the pacer shared his opinion on various things in Pakistan cricket, apart from sharing his plans of attaining British citizenship and playing in the IPL.

Plan To Play For 6-7 Years- Mohammad Amir

“At the moment I’ve been granted indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom. I’m enjoying my cricket these days and plan to play for another 6 or 7 years so let’s see how things go. My children will grow up in England and receive their education there so no doubt I will be spending a fair amount of time there,” Mohammad Amir said.

BCCI does not permit players from Pakistan to participate in the IPL since the second edition of the IPL. The only player who has been a part of the league after the inaugural edition is Azhar Mahmood, the former Pakistan all-rounder, who registered himself as an English player and appeared for the Punjab Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mohammed Amir Hopeful Of Getting  British Citizenship

“At the moment, I’ve not really thought about the other possibilities and opportunities available and how things will turn out when I receive British citizenship in the future.

“Retiring from playing for your beloved country isn’t an easy step to take. I thought a lot about this decision, I spoke to those close to me and only then did I reach this decision. If I go into all of the details and re-open all those chapters then it will get very ugly. I hope that our players, especially the youngsters in future don’t have to face what I had to face as I don’t want our younger players to get disheartened and have to sacrifice their careers as I did,” Amir said in the same interaction.
