Mohammad Hafeez has slammed Ramiz Raja following his judgments on experienced Pakistan players. The popular commentator has often raised questions on Pakistan selectors for backing veteran players instead of youngsters. The likes of Hafeez and Shoaib Malik who are past their prime are still part of the T20 set-up of Pakistan.

In the last few years, Pakistan has been below par in international cricket but they still have persisted with their experienced batsman in the middle order. Especially in white-ball cricket when teams are introducing youngsters in their side Pakistan have been circumspect with their decision making.

Mohammad Hafeez Slams Ramiz Raja

Recently Raja targeted Hafeez and Malik who are still playing T20s in international cricket. Nevertheless, Hafeez has lately been outstanding in the shortest format and has won matches for Pakistan. Still, Raja wants Pakistan cricket to think about the future and invest more in upcoming talents.

“This is a typical Pakistani mindset that comes to the World Cup, you must have a lot of experience to win the game, I can understand the value of experience but I still feel that there is much space for young kids to come and do well. Experience can’t be overlooked but at the same time you can’t back yourself completely on a 37 or 38 years old player and not one but three or four,” Raja said ESPNCricinfo.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez who is popularly known as the ‘Professor’ didn’t take these comments of Ramiz Raja lightly. The Pakistan batsman has now reacted to these remarks and stated that his 12-year-old son has better game awareness than Ramiz Raja.

“I acknowledge Ramiz Raja’s services for Pakistan cricket as a player. I respect his opinion but I have reservations over his cricketing sense and game awareness. If you talk to my 12-year-old son, even his game awareness is better than Ramiz Bhai”, Hafeez told Cricket Pakistan.

Furthermore, Mohammad Hafeez figured that Ramiz Raja might have said this to promote his YouTube channel. He also strengthened that he will continue to represent Pakistan as long as he’s fit and performing.

“If Ramiz Bhai wants to continue saying such things for promoting his YouTube channel, then I can’t stop with but I will continue playing for Pakistan as long as I’m fit and performing”, said the 40-year-old Mohammad Hafeez.
