MS Dhoni‘s patriotism goes far beyond his cricketing achievements. The former Indian cricket captain and honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army recently participated in the inauguration of the CISF Unit ASG Ranchi.
This wasn’t the first time Dhoni attended an event in his army capacity. He has previously interacted with CISF personnel and their families at similar occasions, sharing stories from his remarkable cricket career and offering motivational insights to inspire them.
The Ranchi-born cricketer officially launched newly installed electric lamp posts in the CISF Unit Line area, improving the infrastructure and facilities for the personnel. He also took part in a plantation drive, demonstrating his dedication to environmental sustainability. The CISF extended their thanks to the cricketing legend for his presence and motivating words.

For those unfamiliar, MS Dhoni’s connection with the Indian Armed Forces goes beyond ceremonial roles. In 2011, he was granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army’s Parachute Regiment in recognition of his contributions to Indian cricket.
Dhoni has embraced this role with dedication, completing basic training in 2011 and earning the qualification of a paratrooper in 2015 after executing five parachute jumps. His service has included patrolling and guard duties in Jammu and Kashmir, taking part in anti-terror operations, and serving with the Victor Force in the Kashmir Valley in 2019.
Dhoni Prepares for IPL 2025
As the IPL 2025 season draws near, MS Dhoni has been making waves with his intense training sessions at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) academy. Months before the tournament, the 43-year-old was seen showcasing his remarkable fitness in the nets, putting to rest any doubts about his match fitness following the previous season.
For those who don’t know, CSK retained Dhoni for a base price of INR 4 crore in IPL 2025, reflecting the team’s trust in their legendary player. Despite battling knee and back issues during IPL 2024, Dhoni selflessly played a crucial role in mentoring his successor, Ruturaj Gaikwad, through the captaincy transition.
With the new season approaching, Thala fans are excited, eagerly awaiting the moment when Dhoni’s bat sends the ball soaring over the ropes at Chepauk.
