Nathan Lyon Picks Three Best Batters He Played Against, Including Two Indians

Veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon picked the three best batters he has played against in his illustrious career. He also revealed the secrets to getting those players out. Lyon recently achieved a remarkable feat, completing 500 wickets in Tests.

In a recent interview, Nathan Lyon revealed that Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers are the top three batters he has played against. The Lyon-Kohli battle has always been the one to watch out for in every India-Australia Test series. Lyon has dismissed the Indian batter seven times in Test cricket, conceding 529 runs.

“The best player I have played against, that’s a tough question. I have played against some of the greats of the game. I will give you three (names), they will be Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers,” Lyon said.

The veteran spinner expressed that the secret to dismissing Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers is to challenge their defence. He said,

“The secret to get them out, something that I struggle to do would be trying to challenge their defence for a long period.”

The legendary Australian spinner has played six Test matches against Sachin Tendulkar, dismissing him four times. Meanwhile, he has dismissed AB de Villiers twice in the format in eleven matches.

I don’t think it’s hit me yet: Nathan Lyon on completing 500 Test wickets

Nathan Lyon has taken 505 Test wickets, including twenty-three five-wicket hauls, and four ten-wicket hauls. He expressed that he is proud of completing five hundred wickets in the format, but the feeling hasn’t sunk in yet. Lyon is only the eighth bowler and the fourth spinner to reach the landmark.

“It’s something I’m very proud about, I don’t think it’s hit me yet,”

“There’s been a lot of hard work gone into the journey. I’ve had a lot more bad days than good days, but to be back out there in the middle … it’s pretty special,” he added.
