Nepal Announce The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Squad, Rohit Paudel To Lead

On Wednesday, Nepal revealed their lineup for the forthcoming ICC T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024. Rohit Paudel, a standout batting all-rounder, has been appointed captain to lead a formidable 15-player squad for the prestigious event, set to commence on June 1 in the USA and West Indies.

The selection process didn’t yield any major surprises, as players were chosen based on their performance in matches at the ACC Premier Cup in Oman and matches against the touring West Indies A team in Kirtipur.

Rohit Paudel himself showcased his batting prowess by scoring a century against the tourists in the opening match of the five-game series. Following his remarkable achievement of hitting six sixes in an over against Qatar in April, all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee will play a versatile role in the team’s batting lineup, alongside talents like Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh.

Having participated in the U19 World Cup earlier this year, Gulshan Jha joins several young talents in the squad, while 19-year-old Pratis GC retains his place in the senior team.

Sompal Kami, the sole survivor from Nepal’s inaugural 2014 campaign, is accompanied by fast bowling all-rounder Karan KC, known for his cult status, as the senior figures in the group. Leading Nepal’s spin department is left-arm orthodox spinner Lalit Rajbanshi.

All teams have the option to adjust their squads until May 25th, after which any changes will require approval from the ICC’s Event Technical Committee.

The tournament is set to be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 1 to June 29, 2024. This marks the inaugural ICC World Cup event to include matches held in the United States and any other country besides the West Indies within the Americas region.
