New Zealand To Tour Bangladesh For A T20I Series In September 2021

Bangladesh cricket team will host the New Zealand cricket team for a five-match T20I series in September 2021, ahead of the ICC T20 World cup in October.

The International Cricket Council took to Twitter to share the news. They wrote: “JUST IN: Bangladesh will host New Zealand for a five-match T20I series from 1 to 10 September. All matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. #BANvNZ”

The five-match T20I series will be New Zealand’s first bilateral tour to Bangladesh since 2003. The test series ended in a draw. The hosts clinched the one-day internationals, while the visitors won the one-off T20I match. Bangladesh had a disastrous outing in the recent tour of New Zealand which took place from March 20 to April 1. The host’s clean sweep both the one-day international and T20 international series 3-0.

The five-match T20I series in September will act as preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in October. ”

“The New Zealand series will be Bangladesh’s last chance to test themselves and find best combination for the World Cup in Oman and UAE. England’s September-October tour has been pushed to March 2023, allowing Bangladesh players have a break and opening the doors for IPL-bound players,” said the Bangladesh Cricket Board in a statement.

The New Zealand cricket team will reach Bangladesh on August 24 for the five-match T20I series. They will play a practice match on August 29. The series will begin on September 1.

1st T20I: September 1, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka

2nd T20I: September 3, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka

3rd T20I: September 5, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka

4th T20I: September 8, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka

5th T20I: September 10, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka
