Nicholas Pooran Takes Us Through His Hardest Parts of His Life

Nicholas Pooran”s consistency to the West Indies side in recent times is one of the talking topics of the cricketing world. While the top order failed to execute their plans, Pooran”s outing with a blend of destruction and patience has reaped rewards to post some score on the board. Not just in the World Cup but his shorter stint with the Kings XI Punjab side was good. Though he got limited chances, he utilized them to display his skill sets on the field.

On an emotional note, Pooran took us through the days which he termed as the worst phase of his life. Four years ago, he met with a terrible accident which almost destroyed his legs. In a recent interview with daily mail, Nicholas Pooran said “I can”t remember much. I woke up with the car smashed. Then the ambulance came and prised me out. I was in so much pain, I just wanted them to knock me out.”

“When I woke up the next day, both my legs were in casts. They were numb. I couldn”t feel them at all. I was on painkillers throughout the 12 days I was in the hospital. The doctor told me he wasn”t sure if I could play cricket again. He wasn”t sure if I”d ever run properly again. My blood pressure kept going up. I was worried. I just kept praying, and that kept me going”, Nicholas Pooran said.

However,  Nicholas Pooran confidence and passion towards the game made him promise his mother and his girlfriend that he will represent the Windies side at any cost. His dreams came true when he received his first international cap in 2016. He played his first T20 game against Pakistan at Dubai. However, he was suspended by the board for his participation in Bangladesh Premier League over his domestic tournament in the country.

He is expected to form one of the most vital cogs of the limited overs side. In the ongoing tournament, he amassed over 137 runs in 3 innings and the side will be expecting him to deliver his best going forward.

His past four years have been so stressful, however, proper rehabilitation and training ensured that he is back fit and finer. Cricfit wishes Nicholas Pooran all the very best for his career.
