According to Pat Cummins, who has played several Test matches in a short period of time, he will follow the cues from his body. Australia managed their workload on the 2019 tour by switching between five fast bowlers.
In order to become the first Australian fast bowler since Glenn McGrath in 1997 to play in all five Test matches of an Ashes series, Australia’s Test captain Pat Cummins expressed his desire to do so.
Despite being aware of how taxing the seven and a half-week England tour will be, Cummins is still committed to taking part fully.
According to Cummins, who has experience playing several Test matches in a short period of time, he will follow the cues from his body. To save energy and maintain control over his bowling, the 29-year-old pacer admitted that he bowls at about 90 to 95 percent of his full pace.
When questioned about his availability for every Ashes game, Cummins responded, “That’s the plan. We have played five or six Test matches in five or six weeks, so it’s nothing new for me; I’ve done it a few times at home. My body will be my primary guide.”
In order to effectively manage the workload during the 2019 tour, Australia alternated between five fast bowlers. The tour this year, which begins soon after their recent victory over India in the World Test Championship (WTC), is anticipated to be even more physically taxing.
Cummins, Boland, Hazlewood, and Starc are all expected to play in every game for Australia, along with Sean Abbott and Michael Neser, who are also expected to make an appearance.
As the series goes on, Cummins hopes to rely on his body’s feedback while focusing on maintaining his form and fitness. He said he is in good spirits right now and intends to take each Test match as it comes.
“Anything harder, if I really try to run in and bowl fast, maybe my seam isn’t as good, maybe I don’t swing the ball as much, Cummins said. I currently have a great sense of well-being. I’ll take each Test as it comes, but there are still 25 days of cricket to play, so I anticipate watching golf while ordering a lot of UberEats at the hotel. “
