“Cummins, Are You Russell In Disguise?” – Twiteratti In Awe Of KKR All-Rounder’s Clean Hitting

Pat Cummins

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Pat Cummins launched an absolute carnage at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium as his side chased down the target within 16 overs against Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma and Co had posted 161 runs batting first, thanks to an outstanding knock from Suryakumar Yadav.

Chasing a moderate total on a difficult wicket, KKR batters struggled to get going. However, Venkatesh Iyer held one end tightly while others failed to carry on the innings after starts. But once Pat Cummins came out in the middle, things changed in a jiffy.

He launched an absolute carnage, hitting everything at his disposal to chase down the total with 24 balls to spare. In the process, he brought a 14-ball 50, which is the joint-fastest in the history of IPL.

Pat Cummins remained unbeaten on 56 off 15 balls, decorated by four boundaries and six towering hits. The Aussie cricketer completely bowled the fans with his blitz on a track that looked difficult for the other batters.

Kolkata were struggling at 101/5 in 13.1 overs in their chase of 162 runs when Pat Cummins walked out in the middle. He took the attack to the opposition from the very first ball.

Cummins accumulated 14 runs off that over from Tymal Mills before scoring another 12 in the next over from Jasprit Bumrah. In the 16th over, Pat Cummins cut loose, smashing 35 runs off Daniel Sams to take the Knight Riders over the line.

Kolkata now have six points in their kitty in four games. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are yet to open their account in IPL 2022.
