“Playing Domestic Games Was Beneficial”- India All-rounder On Consecutive bowling Heroics After 2nd ODI

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja credited his Ranji Trophy experience for his impressive bowling performances in the first two ODIs against England in the ongoing three-match series. The left-arm spinner noted that playing first-class cricket for Saurashtra helped him regain rhythm ahead of his ODI return after the 2023 World Cup.

Jadeja picked up three wickets in both matches, finishing with figures of 3/26 and 3/35. Additionally, he made useful lower-order contributions, remaining unbeaten on 12 and 11. India secured back-to-back four-wicket victories, sealing the series with a 2-0 lead. Jadeja’s all-round abilities will be crucial for Team India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Jadeja recently featured in two Ranji Trophy matches for Saurashtra in the 2024-25 season. The 36-year-old delivered a stellar performance against Delhi, claiming 12 wickets with figures of 5/66 and 7/38 in the two innings. However, he didn’t need to bowl in the following game against Assam.

Speaking at the post-match press conference (via India Today), Jadeja stated: “Playing the domestic matches helped as the number of overs I sent down helped me get into rhythm. After almost two years I am playing ODIs and was trying bowl same lines and lengths as Test matches.”

“Massive Confidence Boost” – Ravindra Jadeja on India captain’s century before Champions Trophy

Ravindra Jadeja highlighted the importance of India captain Rohit Sharma’s timely century ahead of the Champions Trophy. The all-rounder noted that, given Rohit’s impressive record in the 50-over format, he was always just one good innings away from regaining form. Speaking in the same interaction, he stated:

“Sometimes, it just takes one or two innings to turn things around. The good thing is that, before an important tournament like the Champions Trophy, scoring a hundred is a huge boost. It’s great for the team, and obviously, he himself knows his game well. There’s nothing much to think or discuss.”
