Prithvi Shaw Smashes A Double Century, Joins An Elite List Of Indian Batsmen

Prithvi Shaw today put on an absolute show against Pondicherry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He smashed an unbeaten 227 and became only the 8th Indian batsman to score a double century in List A cricket. Shaw looked in fine touch from ball one and played eye-catching strokes all around the ground.

The Pondicherry bowling attack looked helpless against Shaw and Mumbai as they posted a total of 457 for 4 after 50 overs. Shaw who is leading Mumbai in Shreyas Iyer’s absence led from the front and played a special knock. He scored 227 runs in mere 152 balls and his inning included 31 boundaries and 5 maximums.

Shaw continued his prolific form in Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored yet another three-figure score. Now the talented Indian opening batsman has joined an elite list of Indian batsmen after his majestic double century. Shaw joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shikhar Dhawan, and Karn Kaushal.

As far as domestic cricket is concerned Shaw became only the second Mumbai batsman to score a double century in List-A cricket. Before Shaw, Yashasvi Jaiswal became the first and youngest to score a double century in List-A cricket.

Meanwhile, apart from Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav also showed his prowess with the bat and slammed a counter-attacking century. Suryakumar Yadav batted at a strike rate of 230 and scored 133 off 58 deliveries. The classy right-handed batsman will be high on confidence when he plays for India in the T20I series against England.

As far as Prithvi Shaw is concerned he will be also in the minds of the selectors for the 3 match ODI series against England. Shaw lost his place in the India Test squad after he failed in the opening Test against Australia at Adelaide.
