In his debut match for India A, Priyansh Arya opened the innings against Australia A at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on October 1. The left-handed batter from Delhi delivered an exceptional performance, scoring 101 runs from just 82 balls.
“During his stay at the crease, the left-handed batter from Delhi, who plays for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), hammered 11 fours and 5 sixes.“ Arya shared a 135-run opening partnership in 20.3 overs with his PBKS teammate Prabhsimran Singh, setting a solid foundation for India A.
Prabhsimran Singh, the wicketkeeper-batter, also contributed significantly, scoring 56 runs from 53 balls. “Prabh faced 53 balls for the Shreyas Iyer-led side and slammed six fours and two sixes.”
His innings came to an end when Tom Straker sent him back to the pavilion, and Lachlan Shaw completed the catch on the third ball of the 21st over.
Following Prabhsimran’s dismissal, Arya added 40 runs for the second wicket alongside Shreyas Iyer. “Arya needed 82 balls to complete his century in the first unofficial ODI.” Arya’s innings concluded when Tanveer Sangha dismissed him on the third ball of the 26th over, with Cooper Connolly taking the catch.
Strong Finish from Middle Order
India A managed to reach 300 runs for the loss of two wickets at the end of 39 overs, thanks to strong contributions from the middle order. Shreyas Iyer was batting on 70 runs from 62 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes, while Riyan Parag remained unbeaten on 61 runs from 35 balls, striking four fours and five sixes. “They have added 125 runs so far for the third wicket.” The middle-order performance ensured that India A ended the innings in a commanding position against Australia A.
Priyansh Arya’s IPL 2025 Success
Priyansh Arya was acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 3.80 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. “In his first-ever IPL season, Priyansh played all 17 matches for the Mohali-based franchise and scored 475 runs.”
He impressed the fans with a blistering century in 39 balls against CSK at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur. Arya also scored multiple half-centuries, making a notable impact in his debut IPL season. “He crossed the 50-run mark in a couple of other matches as well for Shreyas Iyer & Co.” His performances in both the IPL and the unofficial ODI highlight his potential as a rising star in Indian cricket.
