Rahul Dravid And Wife Vijeta Attend Son Samit’s Cooch Behar U-16 Trophy Match

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, was recently seen alongside his wife, Vijeta, observing their son, Samit Dravid, in action during the Cooch Behar U-16 Trophy match between Karnataka and Uttarakhand at the SDNRW Ground in Mysuru on December 1. Samit, part of the Karnataka squad, initially gained recognition with a noteworthy 150 in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) BTR Under-14 tournament in 2018.

Despite a recent selection for the 2023 Vinoo Mankad Trophy, his performance in the tournament was modest, scoring 122 runs from four innings with a solitary half-century. Samit’s notable innings included an impressive 87 off 95 balls against Mumbai, featuring ten fours.

Unfortunately, Karnataka fell short by 46 runs while chasing 346 in their allotted 50 overs. Samit also showcased his bowling prowess, securing figures of 2/59 in ten overs during the same match. Notably, Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay, is also actively involved in professional cricket and captains the U14 cricket team of Karnataka.

In terms of Rahul Dravid’s professional journey, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently extended his contract as the head coach of the Indian team. Having assumed the role in 2021 following India’s early exit from the T20 World Cup, Dravid has held the position for over two years. Despite India’s trophy drought since 2014 persisting during his tenure, the BCCI acknowledged the team’s consistent performances under his guidance.

Under Dravid’s leadership, India faced setbacks in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 and the finals of the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup. Despite these challenges, India’s consistent performances across all formats contributed to their ascent to the top of the rankings in Test, ODI, and T20 formats.
