This comes after the BCCI announced contract extensions for the head coach and support staff on Wednesday, November 29. President Roger Binny expressed joy at Dravid’s acceptance of the offer to continue as the team’s head coach.

The next day, Dravid visited Delhi to meet with BCCI Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar and Secretary Jay Shah for squad selection for the South Africa tour across all formats.

During a short interaction with the media after the meeting, Dravid was questioned about his contract extension and the duration he plans to remain as Team India’s coach. Surprisingly, the 50-year-old disclosed that he hasn’t signed any official document for his extension.

According to Hindustan Times, Dravid stated, “Nothing’s out officially. I haven’t signed anything as yet so once I get the papers, we will discuss it. And maybe then you can…”

Dravid will continue as the head coach until the T20 World Cup in 2024- Reports

Reports suggest that Dravid is anticipated to continue as India’s head coach until the T20 World Cup in 2024, which will be held in the West Indies and USA.

Dravid, who hails from Indore, has been absent from the team during the ongoing T20I series against Australia, with VVS Laxman serving as the stand-in Head Coach.

He is set to rejoin the squad for the upcoming tour to South Africa, commencing on December 10. Significantly, Dravid assumed the role of India’s head coach with a two-year contract in 2021 following the T20 World Cup 2021.

His initial tenure concluded at the end of the ODI World Cup 2023. However, owing to the team’s commendable performance under Dravid’s leadership, the BCCI extended his contract.
