Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid is likely to don the coach’s role in their upcoming series against Sri lanka in July later this year. India will play three ODIs and as many T20Is between July 13 to 27. As per SLC’s proposed itinerary to the BCCI, accessed by ESPNcricinfo, the series will commence with the ODIs on July 13, 16, 19 followed by T20I series on July 22, 24, 27. The venues are yet to be finalised.
Rahul Dravid Likely To Coach Team India In Sri Lanka
Meanwhile, with Ravi Shastri touring with the Indian squad for World Test Championship final and the subsequent England tour, reports are that Rahul Dravid is likely to join the Indian players in Sri Lanka and be a part of the coaching staff. A report in Cricbuzz confirmed that the idea is being mulled upon and there is a good possibility that Dravid will accompany the players to Sri Lanka along with some of his support staff from the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

India’s were to play three ODIs and five T20Is but as per the revised schedule the tour has been brought down to three ODIS and T20Is eeach. Shikhar Dhawan is likely to lead the side with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is not part of the Indian squad for the England tour leading the pace attack. Among the other players Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav might be selected as well.
There are no reports of the squad for the Sri Lanka tour being announced as of now. However, the confirmation of the tour was given by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly to Sportstar.
With the T20 World Cup in mind it will be interesting to see if the BCCI selects a T20I specialist side that offers a big pool of players to choose from.
