Former India player VVS Laxman praised KS Bharat after his performance against New Zealand with the gloves. He has also shared the details of his old conversation with the newly-appointed Team India head coach Rahul Dravid about the wicket-keeper as well.

Notably, KS Bharat had to do the job behind the wickets for India as Wriddhiman Saha had some stiffness in his neck. He was quite impressive and took two catches as well while also doing one stumping. Most importantly, his glovework was praiseworthy while keeping to the spinners.

In a chat with Star Sports after Day 3 of India vs New Zealand Kanpur Test, VVS Laxman opened up on KS Bharat’s performance. Recalling his conversation with Dravid, Laxman said:

“I still remember Rahul Dravid raving about KS Bharat’s wicketkeeping skills. He told me that Bharat has good keeping skills, next only to Wriddhiman Saha in Indian cricket.”

“He didn’t panic at all for someone” – VVS Laxman on KS Bharat

VVS Laxman also applauded KS Bharat, saying that he repaid the selectors’ faith. He added that the wicket-keeper’s performance justified the Dravid’s confidence in him as well. He also opined how KS Bharat did not come under pressure despite keeping the wickets for the first time in Tests.

And, the former Indian batsman shared that today’s experience will give Bharat a lot of confidence as well.

“In these quality spin conditions, if you don’t have a reliable wicketkeeper then you’re going to miss a lot of chances. What we saw today was great technique and great presence of mind, he didn’t panic at all for someone who has come into this team recently and got to play only because Saha was injured,” concluded VVS Laxman.
