Ravichandran Ashwin believes that not him but Rishabh Pant needs to be blamed for getting DRS calls wrong so many time during matches. The seasoned off-spinner was st his best during the home Test series against England and was adjudged the player of the series. Nevertheless, Ashwin was often criticised for taking wrong DRS calls when the batsman was clearly not out about which he has finally spoken.
Ashwin pointed out that with regards to the DRS he always relies on the wicket-keeper Pant who hasn’t been a great help to him lately. The Indian off-spinner more often than not is always in the ears of Pant whenever the ball strikes the pads of a batsman.
Ravichandran Ashwin takes a dig at Rishabh Pant for getting DRS calls wrong
In his recent interview, Ashwin even took a playful dig at Pant and stated that he has been letting him down when it comes to DRS calls on many occasions. Ashwin also in a funny tone added that he even had a conversation with Pant about the DRS call when coach Ravi Shastri was not happy with him.
“I think we need to change the lens with which people are looking at me for the DRS. Before this series against England, my DRS (usage) was extremely good. Because you take the DRS, you need to rely on the keeper’s resources. I ask valid questions in terms of saying ‘I know whether the ball struck inline or not,” Ashwin told India Today.
“But with respect to the line from the angle that I am bowling and the bounce, the keeper really needs to help. And Rishabh is actually letting me down, on a lot of occasions. I took him aside and said we need to sit down and discuss because Ravi Bhai has a few complaints about me going for DRS”, said Ashwin.
