Shubman Gill set a new record for the highest score by a player in IPL playoff history against the Mumbai Indians last night (May 26),  The Titans’ opening batsman, a right-handed player, scored 129 runs off just 60 balls while slamming seven fours and ten maximums.

His 100 helped the Gujarat Titans reach their second straight final. In their match against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, Gujarat set numerous records. GT scored the most points as a team in a playoff game, breaking Gill’s previous record for the best individual score by a player.

In response to Shubman’s outstanding at-bat, Delhi Capitals star Rishabh Pant shared a photo of Shubman celebrating his century on his Instagram story and wrote: “Class Baba”

Last year, Gujarat Titans became an IPL member. In their first season alone, GT won the championship, and in their second season, they have earned a spot in the championship game once more. The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings will be their opponent this time when they square off in the summit match.

Last year, during the Gujarat Titans’ championship game against the Rajasthan Royals, Shubman Gill hit the game-winning six. When he takes the field against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (May 28) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the GT opener will be eager to maintain his excellent form.

Shubman Gill’s team, the Gujarat Titans, won the match with a half-century when they played the Chennai Super Kings earlier this year at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It will be intriguing to watch how he performs on Sunday night during the big game.
