Rishabh Pant To Join CoE next week; Gearing Up For West Indies Test Series Comeback

Team India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently undergoing recovery from a foot fracture he picked up during the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford. The left-hander aims to regain full fitness in time for the upcoming two-match home Test series against the West Indies, set to begin on October 2.

Pant suffered the injury on Day 1 of the fourth Test while trying a reverse sweep off pacer Chris Woakes, which ruled him out for six weeks. The five-match series concluded in a 2-2 draw, and the setback also forced him to miss the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.

Rishabh Pant has shown notable improvement in his recovery from the foot fracture he suffered during the Manchester Test. Initially, there were doubts that he might need surgery, but the medical team opted against it after observing positive results from his rehabilitation.

The 27-year-old is now likely to achieve full match fitness in the coming weeks. Having returned to India following a brief recovery phase in England, Pant is set to join the Centre of Excellence next week, as per RevSportz, to continue his rehab and gear up for the upcoming West Indies Test series.

“Breaking: Rishabh Pant will join the Centre of Excellence next week to start rehab following the toe fracture he sustained during the Manchester Test,” the tweet read.

Rishabh Pant’s Impact In The England-India 2025 Test Series

Rishabh Pant served as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team during the England tour and delivered standout performances in the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The southpaw scored 479 runs in four Tests at an impressive average of 68.42, registering two centuries and three fifties.

With his knocks, Pant went past former India skipper MS Dhoni’s record for the most Test hundreds by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter. However, his campaign was disrupted by injuries, he first suffered a finger injury in the third Test at Lord’s, prompting Dhruv Jurel to take over the wicketkeeping duties.

Later, in the fourth Test, he sustained a foot injury while attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes. As a result, Jurel continued as the keeper, while Pant was ruled out of the fifth and final Test at The Oval. Tamil Nadu’s Narayan Jagadeesan was then drafted into the squad as a replacement wicketkeeper.
